George Lucas Preparing 'Star Wars' Blu-ray for Fall 2011

14 Aug, 2010 By: John Latchem

The target date is still more than a year away, but "Star Wars" fans can start making plans to add their favorite film franchise to their Blu-ray collections. George Lucas, appearing Aug. 14 at Star Wars Celebration V fan confab in Orlando, Fla., announced that all six films in the saga would be released as a Blu-ray Disc boxed set in Fall 2011 by 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment.

It would be the first time the six films would be released as part of the same collection. Previous DVD sets were limited to either the original trilogy (episodes IV, V and VI) and the prequel trilogy (episodes I, II and III). Lucas said the boxed set would contain extensive bonus material, including deleted scenes from the original trilogy.
