17 Jul, 2012 By: Chris Tribbey

DreamWorks Animation has made a $150 million bid for Classic Media, which owns “The Lone Ranger,” “Casper the Friendly Ghost” and “He-Man and the Masters of the Universe,” among other classic content properties, according to a New York Times report.

Citing an anonymous source, the Times reported that the DreamWorks bid far exceeds bids made by other companies.

“Lassie,” “Where’s Waldo,” “Ghostbusters,” and “Rocky and Bullwinkle” are also in Classic Media’s vault.

Classic Media was founded in 2000 by former Broadway Video executive John Engelman and former Marvel Entertainment CEO Eric Ellenbogen.
