7 Apr, 2011 By: Erik Gruenwedel

As expected, U.S. Bankruptcy Court Judge Burton Lifland April 7 approved Dish Network’s $320 million acquisition of Blockbuster Inc.

Lifland permitted the transaction in a scheduled hearing of the April 6 winning bid by the No. 2 satellite TV operator.

Blockbuster CEO Jim Keyes April 7 told Reuters that he expects Dish to maintain the chain’s store operations, in addition to Blockbuster Express kiosks, which are owned and operated under license agreement with NCR Corp.

Englewood, Colo.-based Dish said it expects the sale to be completed by April 25.
