Amazon Cuts 4K Movie Prices
25 Sep, 2017 By: Erik GruenwedelIn apparent response to Apple adding 4K movies to iTunes (for consumption on the new Apple TV 4K only), Amazon Video has cut the of 4K UHD Blu-ray Disc movies.
With Apple selling new-release digital 4K movies for $19.99, Amazon is matching the price on many major packaged media titles.
For example, Liongate’s John Wick 4K Ultra HD was reduced 35% to $14.99; Deepwater Horizon is priced at $18.96; Warner Home Video’s Fantastic Beasts ands Where to Find Them costs $24.99, down almost 17%; ditto for The Accountant.
Wonder Woman UHD Blu-ray, which was released Sept. 19 for $44.95, has been reduced 34% to $29.96.
Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment’s The Martian: Extended Edition is $19.99 from $29.99; and Deadpool is also priced at $19.99.
Fox’s pending (Oct. 24) Planet of the Apes Trilogy in 4K UHD/Blu-ray/Digital HD has been reduced 29% to $49.99 from $69.99.
Overseas, Amazon U.K. is selling select catalog 4K UHD digital titles priced from £5.49 ($7.40), with Ghostbusters: Answer the Call priced at £3.99 ($5.40).
