31 Mar, 2011 By: John LatchemWarner Home Video June 7 (order date May 3) will bow The Superman Motion Picture Anthology on Blu-ray Disc as an eight-disc set at $129.95.
The collection includes the original theatrical versions of Superman (1978), Superman II (1980), Superman III (1983), Superman IV: The Quest for Peace (1987) and Superman Returns (2006), as well as director Richard Donner’s alternate cuts of the first two films. The set also includes a bonus disc and boasts more than 20 hours of extras such as commentaries, featurettes, deleted scenes and two documentaries in high-def.
The extras carry over from the DVD anthology that was released a few years ago. This is also the first time the theatrical cuts of Superman II, III and IV will be available on Blu-ray.
The set also includes movie cash for the new Green Lantern film, in theaters June 17.
News of this Superman set comes just as Warner is ramping up production of a new Superman film for 2012, directed by Zack Snyder (Watchmen) and starring Henry Cavill as Clark Kent and Amy Adams as Lois Lane.
