Walmart's 'Bambi'

The new titles March 1 certainly gave consumers plenty of choices for their home entertainment dollar.

Most of the focus was on Disney’s new Bambi Blu-ray, Target and Best Buy both used their weekly circular to invite consumers to go online for a $10 discount coupon, bringing the price down to $12.99 at both stores. In addition, Best Buy offered a $4.99 Bambi lunchbox with purchase of the combo pack (the lunchbox is $9.99 on its own), while Target’s Bambi came with an exclusive bonus disc. Walmart offered the new Bambi edition with a packed-on activity book.

Target and Best Buy also offered extra savings with joint purchase of two new Fox titles: 127 Hours and Love & Other Drugs; Best Buy offered $5 off the DVD and $10 off the Blu-ray, while Target offered $7 off either format.

The award for most interesting exclusive goes to Best Buy’s Blu-ray/DVD combo pack of Burlesque, which came with a free corset. Target offered a $5 gift card with purchase of both the Burlesque DVD or Blu-ray and CD soundtrack.

Best Buy also offered a deluxe “Pirates of the Caribbean” boxed set, as Disney re-releases the trilogy with theatrical coupons for the fourth film.
