YouTube Launches Worldwide Video Project7 Jul, 2010 By: Chris Tribbey
YouTube and Oscar-winning director Kevin Macdonald (The Last King of Scotland) have announced an ambitious worldwide video project titled Life in a Day.
On July 24 anyone in the world with a video camera is encouraged to capture a snapshot of his or her life and submit it to YouTube. Macdonald will edit the most compelling footage into a feature-length documentary, which will premiere at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival. Ridley Scott (Gladiator, Black Hawk Down) will serve as executive producer. LG Electronics will help support the project.
Twenty contributors who have their work included in the film will earn co-director credit and will attend the premiere.
The deadline to submit footage to YouTube is July 31.
“It should be personal,” Scott said. “It must be personal. That’s what we’re looking for.”
