YouTube Goes HD19 Dec, 2008 By: Chris Tribbey
YouTube announced Dec. 18 that it had launched a widescreen high-definition player and dedicated a portion of its site to 720p HD content.
At the same time, YouTube announced the launch of three new portal sites, in a bid to streamline content searches: youtube.com/news, youtube.com/music and youtube.com/movies. News will draw from the headlines of Google News, music will feature new music videos and playlists, and movies will showcase both short-form and feature-length films.
“With these developments we are hoping to improve your viewing experience and make it easier to find the content you want to watch,” YouTube staffers wrote in their daily blog.
