Xbox, Macy’s Team to Offer ‘Kinect’ Preview

15 Jul, 2010 By: Chris Tribbey

Starting June 15 more than a dozen Macy’s stores nationwide will offer gamers a chance to try out the Xbox 360’s new controller-free, motion- and speech-recognition based system, dubbed Kinect.

Gamers will be able to try the new system through Sept. 30. The system goes on sale nationwide Nov. 4.

“By engaging today’s gaming and tech-savvy consumers with store demos of this yet-to-be-released experience, we believe we are creating a unique and exclusive Macy’s experience for everyone as they shop our stores during the high-traffic back-to-school season,” said Martine Reardon, EVP of marketing for Macy’s.

By way of a sensor that’s compatible with every 360, Kinect recognizes players’ movements and voice commands, for a new set of games launching with the system.

Starting July 27 consumers can visit macys.com/glamorama, or from Aug. 12-Sept. 10 they can visit macys.com/mstylelab for a chance to win one of the systems.
