Xbox Brings Flixster, PopcornFlix to Live Platform11 Dec, 2012 By: Chris Tribbey
Microsoft is rolling out more than 40 new applications for Xbox Live during the next couple of months, including Flixter (owned by Warner and supporting the cloud-based UltraViolet service), IndieFlix and PopcornFlix in the United States.
“You should be able to download these apps from the Xbox Live marketplace starting today,” Microsoft announced in a blog post. “Give it some time though; we’re rolling out a lot of apps at once and it may take a day or two for all the apps to arrive. We will keep you updated as more of the world’s leading entertainment providers come to Xbox.”
Launching specifically in the United States are All3M, Ameba TV, CNET, CrunchyRoll, Deezer, Fightbox, Flixster, GameTrailers, IndieFlix, Karaoke, Livesport.tv, Machinima, Maxim, MTV, PBS, PopcornFlix, SkyDrive, Slacker Radio, The CW Network and Vimeo.
Best Buy’s CinemaNow is also expanding into Canada.
“We’re also continuing to expand our offering of live events on Xbox Live via our Live Events Player app,” Microsoft added. “We’ll unveil new interactive features like real-time pop-up information, polling and trivia.”
