Premium channel TV Everywhere platform headed to Xbox One in 2014
Starz Play, the premium channel’s TV Everywhere platform, Dec. 3 said it is now available to authenticated subscribers on Microsoft’s Xbox 360 — the first video game console system to incorporate Starz’ original episodic TV programs and third-party first-run movies.
Starz Play is also available free to Xbox Live subscribers. Sister TV Everywhere platforms — Encore Play and Movieplex Play — are still in development for the 360, and along with Starz Play, will also be incorporated in the Xbox One in 2014, according to Starz LLC.
Since launching in October 2012, the Play TV Everywhere service, which features a catalog of more than 1,500 movies and original TV programming, is now available on a wide array of platforms including PCs/Macs, and devices including iPhone, iPad & iPod touch and several Android handsets, tablets and other platforms, including Kindle fire, Kindle Fire HD, Nook HD, Nook HD+ and select Google Nexus devices such as the Nexus 4, Nexus 7, and Nexus 10.
“Starz Play … exemplifies the new ways we are adding value to the underlying premium Starz subscription for the benefit of consumers and our distributors,” said Michael Thornton, chief revenue officer of Starz, in a statement.
