Microsoft to Unveil New Xbox May 2125 Apr, 2013 By: Erik Gruenwedel
Microsoft late April 24 said it will reveal details of a new generation Xbox video game console during a live video presentation May 21 on Xbox Live, Xbox.com or Spike TV from its Redmond, Wash.-based headquarters. The software behemoth did not disclose what the new Xbox will feature.
Online reports suggest the new Xbox will offer enhanced streaming functionality, including links to third-party content.
Since launching 2001, the Xbox and subsequent Xbox 360 edition have spearheaded transformation of the gaming market from a pure play device to media hub for Internet-delivered entertainment.
In March, Xbox 360 maintained its position as the No. 1 console in the U.S., selling more units than any other console and marking the 27th consecutive month as the best-selling console, according to The NPD Group.
Xbox April 18 unveiled an app for Flixster.com, the Warner Bros.-owned movie recommendation site, allowing Xbox Live subscribers to rent and buy movies — the latter with UltraViolet functionality.
