Warner Trims Staff

Studio joins Disney, Fox and Paramount in ongoing personnel cuts

Warner Bros. is cutting 50 employees, or 1% of its 5,500-person global workforce, at its Burbank, Calif.-based studio due to sluggish sales in packaged media.

The studio, in a statement released late June 10, said the layoffs would occur in home entertainment and consumer products as part of “limited staff reductions” following review of its business operations.

“The total number of employees and positions impacted by these reductions is a relatively small percentage of our domestic workforce,” the statement reads.

The cuts mirror previous and pending staff downsizing at Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment and Paramount Home Entertainment.
