Warner Bows Blu Incentives22 Apr, 2009 By: Erik Gruenwedel
Warner Home Video has launched two incentive programs designed to keep the studio’s Blu-ray titles front-and-center in consumers’ minds.
The first program, WarnerBlu Buy 5 Get 1 Free, allows consumers to receive one free Warner title for every five Blu-ray titles bought through April 6, 2010.
Warner titles offered include Yes Man, Get Smart, Oceans Thirteen, We Are Marshall and The Dark Knight, in addition to the May 5 release He’s Just Not That Into You and the June 9 release Gran Torino.
Consumers must pre-register at www.warnerblu.com/rewards to receive the free Blu-ray title. Enrollees are automatically entered for a chance to win $5,000 in the Blu-ray sweepstakes. No purchase is necessary to enter the drawing.
In addition, Warner is offering consumers of Warner HD DVD titles a chance to trade them for Warner Blu-ray titles. Consumers simply select at www.red2blu.com the Warner HD DVD titles they want to upgrade, mail in the original HD DVD cover art (no actual discs) and receive the same titles in Blu-ray in about four-to-six weeks.
There is a $4.95 shipping and handling fee per Blu-ray title.
“Blu-ray high def not only delivers the best possible movie watching experience, it’s also packed with added value, including digital copy, Blu-ray exclusive bonus features and BD-Live,” said Kris Brown, VP of worldwide high definition, Warner Home Video. “Whether its rewarding consumers for their loyalty or helping them transition into Blu-ray at a very low cost, these programs are a reflection of our commitment to bringing value to the Blu-ray consumer.”
