Warner Adds Movie Apps

'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1'


Warner Bros. Digital Distribution May 11 bowed Web-based apps for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1 and comedy Due Date, starring Robert Downey Jr. and Zach Galifianakis.

The free apps allow consumers to sample the first five-minutes of special edition movies and TV shows, in addition to related games, trivia, soundtracks and soundboards, playable on the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch. The movies (and all bonus features) can be purchased via the app, which enables downloading and unlimited streaming.

“We saw strong interest with the launch of The Dark Knight and Inception App Editions,” said Thomas Gewecke, president of Warner Bros. Digital Distribution. “In the coming months, we expect to launch additional titles, including action and comedy films.”

Indeed, Warner is pushing digital distribution of its movies, underscored by the recent acquisition of and movie ratings website .
