Warner Home Video has slated director Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes for DVD and Blu-ray March 30 (order date Feb. 16).
The action-packed update to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s famed literary detective stars Robert Downey Jr. in the title role, for which he recently won the Golden Globe award for best actor in a comedy or musical.
The case involves a series of murders around London, leading Holmes to investigate a dangerous cult that may have ties to Parliament. Jude Law co-stars as Watson, with Rachel McAdams as Holmes’ former flame Irene Adler.
The film, released on Christmas, has grossed $193.1 million at the domestic box office as of Jan. 29.
Both the DVD ($28.98) and Blu-ray ($35.99) of Sherlock Holmes will include the behind-the-scenes featurette “Sherlock Holmes: Reinvented.” The Blu-ray version, which comes as a combo pack that includes both a DVD and digital copy of the film, also will include deleted scenes, BD Live functionality and a “Maximum Movie Mode” picture-in-picture commentary with Ritchie.
Warner also will make available at $14.97 a DVD of The Crucifier of Blood, a 1991 TV movie starring the late Charlton Heston as Holmes.
