Stars Kate Jackson, Bruce Boxleitner.

A breezy spy drama from the 1980s, “Scarecrow and Mrs. King” was surprisingly considered one of the top TV series unreleased on DVD. So the release of the first season comes as a welcome relief to the show’s many fans.

Serving somewhat as a spiritual precursor to True Lies, the show starred Bruce Boxleitner (Tron) as secret agent Lee Stetson (code name: Scarecrow), who enlists the help of divorced mother of two Amanda King (Kate Jackson of “Charlie’s Angels”) to deliver a package at a train station. She ends up much more involved in the mission than intended, and soon enough is recruited by the agency to assist Scarecrow in his weekly adventures.

Boxleitner and Jackson exhibit a winning chemistry with a back-and-forth antagonism akin to an old-fashioned romantic comedy.

The first-season set has all 21 episodes from the 1983-84 season, but that’s it. There aren’t any extras.
