Wal-Mart Co-Produces Family-Friendly TV Movie, DVD5 Apr, 2010 By: Erik Gruenwedel
Wal-Mart April 5 said it has partnered with Procter & Gamble to co-produce made-for-TV movie Secrets of the Mountain, which airs April 16 on NBC and will be released on DVD the following day.
P&G and Wal-Mart collaborated on the movie after internal research with the Association of National Advertisers' (ANA) Alliance for Family Entertainment revealed that parents are seeking more family-oriented entertainment to enjoy together.
Secrets of the Mountain focuses on Dana James, a public defender and single mother, who takes her family to visit a mountain cabin they inherited from their eccentric Uncle Henry, only to find themselves embarking on the adventure of a lifetime.
The movie stars Barry Bostwick ("Spin City") and Paige Turco (Disney Channel's "The Game Plan"), among others.
Household products manufacturing giant P&G is no stranger to entertainment, having produced nearly 50 movies of the week, 35 years of "People's Choice Awards," 20 soap operas, and a number of beauty pageants and variety shows over the past 50 years.
A music CD of the film’s soundtrack, produced by Randy Jackson and featuring tracks from artists such as Alisan & Ilsey, Brooke White and Jordin Sparks, will be available as well.
