Time Warner Cable Drops Fearnet

6 Apr, 2009 By: Chris Tribbey

Fearnet, the horror and thriller VOD channel launched by Lionsgate, Sony Pictures Television and Comcast, has been dropped by Time Warner Cable, leaving the channel available to subscribers of AT&T U-Verse and Verizon Fios.

The station has also been dropped from cable operator Brighthouse.

“As a fellow genre film lover, I’m sure you’ll agree that — with Monsters HD going under — we need a decent horror channel on TV,” wrote Fearnet.com associate editor Joe McCabe on the Web site. “And since we’re planning to unspool a lot of cool flicks on Fearnet in the days ahead … we want the fans to be able to see them!”

Neither Time Warner nor Brighthouse gave a reason for dumping the channel.
