Rovi Unveils New Passport Guide Features26 Oct, 2009 By: Billy Gil
Rovi’s next versions of its Passport Guide service for video-on-demand and TV will include such new features as remote record and VOD search.
“There is an influx of television content that is readily available today to the consumer through the service provider, yet finding this content can sometimes be a difficult maze to navigate, with preset schedules often getting in the way,” said Corey Ferengul, EVP of marketing and product management for Rovi. “We’re making investments in our Passport Guide to help service providers deliver their services to the consumer while helping consumers more easily access the content that is available.”
Other new features will include Whole Home VOD, which allows users to share programming between set-top boxes with Passport Guide; a feature that allows certain broadcast and cable primetime TV shows to be replayed without recording them beforehand; and a VOD Pick List, which is a Web application to queue VOD content for future use. The new features will released in two batches in the first half of 2010.
