Rentrak March 25 said it inked a video-on-demand (VOD) tracking agreement with Alliance Films, a Canadian distributor of Hollywood movies, packaged media, TV and digital content.
Portland, Ore.-based Rentrak, which has evolved its business to include data measurement in addition to DVD/Blu-ray Disc rental revenue-sharing deals for video stores, said the agreement underscored a 19% increase in on demand video consumption in Canada from 2008.
Alliance holds the Canadian distribution rights to CBS Films, Focus Features, The Weinstein Co., Overture Films, Apparition, The Film Department, A Bigger Boat, Grosvenor Park and Relativity Media.
Cable clients include Cogeco Cable, MTS, Rogers Cable, Sasktel, Shaw Cable, Telus and Videotron.
“Alliance will be able to better analyze how viewers consume their content so they can maximize their future viewership and revenue opportunities with both new movie releases and library titles,” said Carol Hinnant, SVP of business development, advanced media with Rentrak.
