RCDb, Verimatrix Team for VOD on Blu-ray Players

13 Sep, 2010 By: Billy Gil

Verimatrix, which secures peripheral revenue for digital TV services, and Related Content Database (RCDb), a TV software and data-services company, have teamed for a licensable solution for garnering video-on-demand content for Blu-ray players, unveiled at the IBC 2010 conference for digital content in Amsterdam.

RCDb, through a licensable Blu-ray client and server platform, offers a BD Live service that supports delivery of TV content and extension of the operators’ set-top-box user experience to Blu-ray players. Verimatrix offers its MultiRights encryption, secure key management and device authentication services to protect the content.

“Pay-TV operators are responding to competitive pressures by finding innovative ways to add new services,” said Tom Munro, CEO of Verimatrix. “The new generation of high-definition Blu-ray players represents a strategic, low-capital expenditure.”

“By integrating AACS security within the trusted and widely deployed Verimatrix MiltiRights solution, Internet-connected Blu-ray players become the natural bridge from disc to digital,” said Zane Vella, CEO of RCDb.
