M-Go Offers Gift Cards2 Dec, 2013 By: Chris Tribbey
Transactional VOD entertainment service M-Go is joining the holiday gift card game, offering new-release films via branded gift cards available at Kroger, Ralphs, Vons and Safeway supermarkets.
Several of the available films are available before the disc release date, and prices range from $12.99 to $14.99, depending on the title. M-Go, which is backed by Technicolor and DreamWorks Animation, is also offering $15 cards for anything the service offers. Gift cards will also be available online later this month at GiftCardMall.com.
“As a company we wanted to solve the consumer problem of how to gift a digital movie in a physical way, providing the tangible gratification and joy of exchanging presents over the holidays,” said M-Go CEO John Batter. “By giving consumers the personal touch of picking the right movie for the right person, we’ve blended the best of physical and digital experiences.”
The movies available at launch include The Croods, Elf, Epic, The Great Gatsby, Grown Ups 2, Pacific Rim, Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters, The Heat, The Internship, The Wolverine, Turbo and Smurfs 2.
Redbox bowed a similar offering mid-December, giving consumers the option to buy $25 gift cards good for physical rentals at kiosks, and digital gift cards that can have increments of $10 added.
