Gravitas, Millennium Partner for Home Entertainment

27 Mar, 2013 By: Chris Tribbey

Independent VOD programming company Gravitas Ventures and Millennium Entertainment have partnered to distribute entertainment titles across digital outlets and on disc.

Millennium will handle disc releases in the partnership, while Gravitas will handle digital distribution.

“We are so pleased to be partnering with Gravitas and utilizing their expertise in the electronic distribution space,” said Millennium Entertainment president Steve Nickerson. “This relationship is the perfect evolution for two leading companies in their respective arenas that will not only benefit our films and filmmakers but also audiences across all platforms.”

The 2013 Sundance Film Festival comedy Hell Baby will see a July pre-theatrical VOD release via Gravitas, followed by theatrical and home entertainment by Millennium. Millennium is also planning home entertainment releases for the 2012 Sundance drama The End of Love, the 2012 SXSW musical-comedy drama Hunky Dory, and the drama 33 Postcards, which has already seen a theatrical release in China.

“We have been hyper-focused on video-on-demand for seven years now,” said Gravitas Ventures president Michael Murphy. “As we’ve seen the marketplace evolve, many producers, filmmakers and sales agents have asked us to be all-rights buyers. Millennium Entertainment is extremely well positioned to ensure that key acquisitions have a vibrant life in the physical space, and we’re truly excited to be working with them.”
