Epix, the high-definition pay-TV and online streaming channel co-owned by Lionsgate, MGM and Paramount Studios, May 10 said internal research underscored mainstream consumer support for its multiplatform distribution.
New York-based Epix found that two-thirds of subscribers viewed movies online and 59% said they used all three platforms (liner, on demand, online), according to a third-party survey of 500 Epix customers.
Not surprisingly, 75% of respondents said multiplatform access was a key attribute of Epix, followed by high-definition programming (55%) and on demand access (44%).
The survey found that 90% of respondents watch premium content on a monthly basis, followed by 84% for free video-on-demand (VOD), 81% for subscription-based VOD, 80% opting for less expensive basic channels, 52% for online-based content and 51% for transactional VOD.
“As the entertainment viewing experience evolves and technology advances, consumers are changing as well,” CEO Mark Greenberg said in a statement.
