19 Apr, 2010 By: Erik Gruenwedel

Epix, the high-definition pay-TV and online streaming channel co-owned by Lionsgate, MGM and Paramount Studios, April 19 said it signed a carriage deal with satellite TV operator Dish Networks.

The deal gives Dish’s 14.1 million customers access to more than 15,000 movies from Paramount, Paramount Vantage, MTV Films and Nickelodeon released theatrically after Jan. 1, 2008, as well as MGM, United Artists and Lionsgate titles released theatrically after Jan. 1, 2009.

It also represents Epix’s first nationwide agreement.

“Epix is an important part of our increased HD channel offering and strong expansion of our movie lineup,” said Dave Shull, SVP of programming for Dish.

Epix has separate agreements with Verizon FiOS, Cox, Charter, Mediacom and NCTC, making the service available to consumers in over 30 million homes by next month.
