Entone Offers Web VOD Solution

8 Sep, 2010 By: Chris Tribbey

Technology company Entone has launched a Web VOD application that IPTV service providers can use to offer services such as Vudu to their customers. The application can be downloaded to connected set tops and opens up other avenues for VOD, Entone said.

“Entone’s clear focus is on enabling hybrid TV services that bring the power of the Internet to traditional pay TV services,” said Ameer Karim, VP of hybrid TV solutions for Entone. “With our Web VOD application, operators can instantly deploy VOD services without the costs and complexities typically associated with equipment and personnel required to operate such a service.

“By moving the operator’s VOD service to the cloud, an operator can deliver a VOD service literally overnight, with a broad complement of other differentiating Web-media services such as online music, photo sharing, social media and the like.”

Thanks to a previous agreement between Entone and Vudu, IPTV service providers who use Entone’s application also will be able to offer YouTube, Pandora, Flickr and Facebook to customers.
