Discovery Channel Joins the Flo TV Lineup

Flo TV and Discovery Communications July 28 announced the premiere of a new Discovery Mobile Channel on the Flo TV mobile TV service, available for subscription on compatible wireless and mobile devices.

“Discovery is a tremendous addition to the lineup of great programming that Flo TV subscribers can watch,” said Jonathan Barzilay, senior VP of programming and advertising for Flo TV.

The Discovery Mobile Channel initially will feature programming such as Discovery Channel’s “Cash Cab,” “Deadliest Catch,” “Dirty Jobs” and “Man vs. Wild.” From Aug. 1-7, for 24 hours a day Flo TV also will offer Discovery’s “Shark Week,” the most popular entertainment special event channel on the mobile service last year.

The channel will spotlight other network programs from Discovery Communication’s portfolio, including Animal Planet’s “River Monsters" and "Wale Wars,” and Science Channel’s “How It’s Made” and “Through the Wormhole with Morgan Freeman.” Content will also be available on demand when Flo TV launches its on-demand feature later this year.

“The Flo TV offering expands our reach by tapping new audiences for our networks and further engaging our loyal viewers who want to watch our award-winning series on the go, whether on their mobile handsets, in cars or on personal devices,” said Rebecca Glashow, Discovery Communication’s SVP of digital media distribution.
