DirecTV Cinema Goes Day-and-date with ‘The Resident’

By : Chris Tribbey | Posted: 01 Feb 2011

The same day the Hilary Swank horror film The Resident hits theaters Feb. 18 DirecTV customers will be able to rent the film at home for as little as $4.99.

DirecTV also is offering a 1080p high-def rental of the film for $5.99.

“We offer our customers the best home-theater experience that can’t be found anywhere else with movie premieres the same day as theaters, more than 400 new releases in razor-sharp 1080p HD, and more than 6,000 popular movies and shows for free through DirecTV CINEMAplus,” said Sarah Lyons, VP of DirecTV upgrade marketing.

The film stars Swank as a newly single doctor whose seemingly perfect New York apartment turns into a house of horrors. Jeffrey Dean Morgan (“Grey’s Anatomy”) and Christopher Lee (The Lord of the Rings) co-star.

Image Entertainment has already announced a March 29 street date for DVD and Blu-ray Disc.
