Comcast Bows Xfinity TV in Spanish

7 Mar, 2011 By: Erik Gruenwedel

Comcast Corp. has debuted Xfinity TV in Spanish, a Latino version of its online repurposed content platform.

The platform (www.XfinityTV.com/latinoTV) offers myriad on-demand Spanish-language TV programs and movies on the Web and portable media devices free to Comcast subscribers.

Xfinity TV is Comcast’s so-called “TV Everywhere” platform that media companies and cable and satellite TV operators are rolling out to retain subscribers and thwart over-the-top content aggregators such as Netflix and Hulu.

Xfinity TV in Spanish has access to more than 500 Hispanic video choices, including movies, music videos and TV shows from Univision, Cine Mexicano, Gran Cine, Caracol TV, Discovery Familia, ¡Sorpresa!, Tr3s, select content from HBO Latino, and Starz, among others. TV program partners include Telemundo, Galavisión, TeleFutura and mun2.

“Offering products and services designed specifically for the Spanish-language audience … demonstrates again our commitment to bringing our customers the best entertainment choices across multiple platforms,” said Marcien Jenckes, SVP and GM of Comcast video services. “We’re continually enhancing our Xfinity TV service with more content and features to meet the diverse interests of the Hispanic community.”
