Broad Green Pictures Inks Digital Tracking Deal With Rentrak

Rising theatrical and home entertainment distributor Broad Green Pictures Aug. 13 announced it signed an agreement with Rentrak for the tracking of on-demand and digitally released titles.

The Los Angeles distributor will use Rentrak’s full suite of digital tracking services to gain a cross-platform view of how theatrical titles perform, which will allow it to better position itself in the competitive landscape.

“As Broad Green Pictures enters the entertainment business, we need to have the aggregated measurement … to ensure our content meets our consumer needs and business goals,” Steve Nickerson, president of home entertainment, said in a statement. “With Rentrak’s title-level competitive industry information, our studio will have a better understanding of the industry as a whole in order to make more timely and accurate decisions in regards to content, acquisitions and marketing.”

Portland, Ore.-based Rentrak has transitioned itself from pay-per-transaction packaged-media facilitator for studios to digital media data tracking service.

Rentrak also has digital tracking agreements with Lionsgate, NBC Universal, AMC Networks, CBS Films, IFC and Shaw Media in Canada.

“Our on-demand and digital services underscore the growing trend of studios needing timely measurement,” Marty Graham, president of home entertainment with Rentrak, said in a statement.
