Avail-TVN in VOD Deal With Spanish-Language Channel

22 Sep, 2009 By: Jordan Harrison

Avail-TVN has announced a long-term, industrywide, video-on-demand services deal with VeneMovies, a Spanish-language channel.
The deal coincides with Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs from Sept. 15-Oct. 15.

Some of the titles offered in September are the Ariel award-winning La Ley de Herodes, with Damian Alcazar and Pedro Armendariz Jr.; Soñar No Cuesta Nada, a film based on the true story of 147 Colombian soldiers who find a treasure they weren’t looking for; Un Rey en la Habana, with Alexis Valdes and Jose Tellez; Iluminados Por el Fuego, winner of The Founders Award for Best Narrative Feature at the Tribeca Film Festival; and the award-winning Partes Usadas.

“With Latinos in the U.S. spending approximately $19.7 billion on entertainment in 2008 and overall Latino purchasing power expected to hit $1 trillion by 2010, there is a great opportunity to serve the growing demand for quality Spanish-language entertainment,” said Jim Riley, chief revenue officer at Avail-TVN.

VeneMovies is a 24-hour, commercial-free channel that serves the U.S. Hispanic market with Spanish-language content. The channel features hit movies with current and rising stars in the Latino film market.
