Amazon Offers HD Video on Demand

Amazon.com is now offering movies in high-def on Amazon Video on Demand, with titles from Warner Bros., Amazon.com is now offering movies in high-def on Amazon Video on Demand, with titles from Warner Bros., Paramount, MGM, Universal Studios, Summit and Showtime available to rent for $3.99 to $4.99.

The high-def options are available on devices from Roku, TiVo and Sony. Also April 21, Amazon announced high-def and 20,000 standard-def offerings are now available on Panasonic Viera Cast-enabled HDTVs. High-def TV shows can also be bought on Macs or PCs for $2.99 an episode.

“Our customers have been asking us for two things: HD and the ability to watch movies and TV shows instantly on their television,” said Bill Carr, Amazon VP of music and video. “We plan to continue making it easier than ever for customers to instantly enjoy their favorite TV shows and movies in HD from the comfort of their living rooms.”

Merwan Mereby, Panasonic VP of new business development, added: “It’s fitting that Panasonic and Amazon have joined creative forces to create this unique entertainment vehicle. The consumer will have access to a vast selection of movie and TV entertainment at their finger tips with just a click of a button.”
