27 Jun, 2012 By: Chris Tribbey

Vizio has launched a new streaming media player powered by Google TV, featuring thousands of applications and the ability to connect to a cable or satellite box.

The Co-Star Stream Player will be available for pre-order in July at Vizio.com for $99.99. The player includes Adobe Flash and HTML 5 support, and will be the first streaming media player to offer on-demand video games via cloud-based OnLive Gaming.

“Our focus to deliver the best consumer experience continues with today’s announcement of the Co-Star, which delivers a superior smart-TV interface that anyone can add to their existing HDTV,” said Matt McRae, Vizio’s CTO. “We combined the powerful features of Google TV with an intuitive and easy-to-use interface, giving users the power to enjoy an entire world of entertainment.”

Google TV allows users to browse websites for content, and the player features picture-in-picture technology, 1080p video, support for 3D and a Bluetooth remote.
