Toys ‘R’ Us to Trade Video Games

10 Sep, 2009 By: Jordan Harrison

Toy store giant Toys “R” Us Sept. 13 launches a video game trade program that lets customers trade games from 25 different systems (even Atari 2600) for store gift cards. The cards can be immediately redeemed at any Toys “R” Us or Babies “R” Us location, or online at Toysrus.com.

“The video game trade-in program is another way we’re providing customers with additional value when they visit our stores,” said Bill Lee, VP, divisional merchandise manager.

Lee said the goal of the program is to make game-trading hassle-free by accepting practically any game, even from the oldest systems.

Best Buy has a similar program with co-branded e-Play kiosks that allow users to return used video games in exchange for an instant gift card that can be used for anything in the store.
