22 Jun, 2012 By: Chris Tribbey

After first testing the idea of renting games next to DVDs and Blu-ray Discs, Redbox rolled out $2-a-day rentals nationwide last June. One year later, the kiosk operator shared some data on how well game rentals have worked for the company.

Redbox to date has rented 18 million video games, 42% of those for the Xbox 360, 33% for the Wii and 25% for the PlayStation 3.

Fifty-three percent of renters are male, and the top five rental markets are in Eugene, Ore.; Frenso, Calif.; San Bernardino, Calif.; Austin; and Wilmington, N.C.

The top seven titles rented are Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (Xbox), Just Dance 3 (Wii), Mario and Sonic at the London Olympics (Wii), Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (Xbox), Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (PS3), Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (Wii) and Wipeout 2 (Wii).
