Microsoft Offers Free Game with Xbox One Purchase

4 Sep, 2014 By: Chris Tribbey

In a bid to help boost sales of its next-gen gaming console, Microsoft is offering a free game with the purchase of an Xbox One for one week, Sept. 7-13.

“And the sky’s the limit: Whether you want to lock-and-load with your friends in Destiny or Titanfall, face the legions of hell in Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition, hack the planet in Watch Dogs, or hit the sports arena of your choice in Madden NFL 15 or NHL 15, the choice is yours,” Microsoft said in a statement.

The offer is good for any Xbox One game available at retail, and is also good for purchases of systems with games already bundled in.

Microsoft has been playing catch-up with rival Sony’s PlayStation 4 since the two consoles first launched, with Microsoft slashing the price of its console and offering various deals to get consumers on board. Sony in mid-August announced it has passed the 10 million mark for consoles sold, while Microsoft has been mum on its sales, since reporting more than five million sold in April.
