Microsoft: Comic-Con Just as Important as E3

SAN DIEGO — Comic-Con has become just as important as the annual Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), when it comes to sharing the importance of gaming with the masses, according to Ryan Luckin, senior spokesman for Xbox and parent company Microsoft.

“Comic-Con is synonymous with pop culture, and has reached a new level when it comes to sharing what we’re trying [to do] with the Xbox One,” he said, regarding the next-generation gaming console Microsoft is releasing this holiday season.

Microsoft proved its commitment to Comic-Con with a large-scale, invite-only party at the Hard Rock, a major presence on the convention center floor, and a huge off-site exhibit with gaming, contests, interactive green screen events and more.

Along with a slew of entertainment applications, the Xbox One will, for the first time in Microsoft’s history, include a Blu-ray Disc drive, a necessity for today’s customers, Luckin said.

“Blu-ray is an important format that consumers are [enjoying],” he said. “It made sense [to include it].”
