Danny the Dragon Meets Jimmy (DVD Review)4 Apr, 2010 By: John Latchem
Narrated by Janis Welch.
Author Tina Turbin’s children’s book Danny the Dragon Meets Jimmy, released at the end of 2008, tells a charming story about a boy named Jimmy who, while visiting the beach with his family, finds a strange green-and-white shell in the ocean. They take it home and discover that the shell is the home of a little dragon named Danny and his navigator, Skipper. Danny and Skipper play with Jimmy and his friends and promise to regale them with stories of their adventures.
The 10-minute video presents a reading of the book, which is designed to be the first in a series. The image is a simple slideshow of Aija Jasuna’s lively illustrations from the book.
Turbin is donating proceeds from the DVD to support literacy and education, with half the funds earmarked for the Blossom Montessori School for the Deaf. In support of Turbin’s focus, the DVD also contains interpretation in sign language by Carol Downing.
