Universal Ups Read to Expanded HD Positions

Universal Studios Home Entertainment Aug. 9 promoted Robert Read to SVP worldwide high definition marketing, a title that includes performing the same function for Universal Pictures International Entertainment (UPIE).

Read, who was vice president of HD strategic marketing, specialty product and USHE franchise management, will oversee Universal's high-definition initiatives worldwide, serving as global strategist of all new release, catalog and television offerings on Blu-ray as well as on other new formats including 3D and digital home entertainment media. He will continue in his current role as brand marketing lead on all Focus Features and Rogue Pictures product domestically.

Read also continues working on numerous Digital Entertainment Group (DEG) marketing committees, including his role as chairman of the Blu-ray core marketing team and his participation on the 3D and DEG Europe committees.

He reports to Hilary Hoffman, EVP, marketing, USHE, and Melanie Nicholas, SVP, marketing, sales and licensees, UPIE, in Los Angeles.
