Universal Studios Ties Halloween Event to Disc Releases17 Aug, 2013 By: Chris Tribbey
Universal Studios Hollywood’s annual Hollywood Horror Nights will include two new “scare zones” in 2013, both inspired by upcoming Blu-ray Disc releases.
Starting Sept. 20, Hollywood Horror Nights will include areas based on the horror films The Purge (which pulled in more than $81 million worldwide on a production budget of just $3 million) and Curse of Chucky, which debuts on disc Oct. 8. Universal Studios Home Entertainment has also announced an Oct. 8 street date for The Purge.
“The Purge: Survive the Night” will greet guests as they enter the theme park, engaging them in the film’s most memorable scenes. Hollywood Horror Nights opens at 7 p.m., the same time the film’s premise — that all criminal activity is legal for 12 hours — begins.
The Chucky-inspired zone will be a first for the possessed doll, which has made special appearances at past Hollywood Horror Nights.
Other Halloween attractions at the theme park will include “The Walking Dead: No Safe Haven,” “Evil Dead: Book of the Dead,” “Insidious: Into the Further” and “Black Sabbath 13 3D.”
