Universal Partners with Telemundo for Online Movie Hub

25 Feb, 2013 By: Chris Tribbey

Universal, Sprint and Fandango have partnered with Spanish-language entertainment company Telemundo Media to launch a new mobile and online movie site geared toward Hispanic audiences.

The first film to be featured at FandangoCine.com will be Universal Pictures’ Fast & Furious 6. The site will be integrated into Telemundo.com, Mun2.tv and Fandango.com, and will offer movie-related content in Spanish and tickets to more than 20,000 theaters.

The site will feature original movie-related editorial and video programming, original features, interviews and movie guides. Original shows created for Fandango Cine will debut in March. They include “Fandango Cine: En Taquillas,” a Monday box office recap; "”Fandango Cine: En Cartelera,” a preview of upcoming movies; “Pop Cine,” which covers industry news; and “Cine Buzz,” which follows Latinos in the movie industry.

“Fandango Cine marks a significant move for Telemundo as we launch the most comprehensive and dedicated multiscreen approach designed to reach U.S. Hispanic movie fans,” said Peter Blacker, EVP of digital and emerging media for Telemundo Media. “In developing this initiative with Fandango, we have the perfect partner in innovation and consumer responsiveness that acknowledges the explosion of Hispanic mobile, Internet and social media users. We look forward to further deepening the movie going experience for this dynamic and ever-growing community.”
