Warner Takes Viewers to the ‘Fringe’28 May, 2009 By: John Latchem
The latest television hit from the creative team behind the new Star Trek movie is heading to home video this fall. Fringe: The Complete First Season arrives Sept. 8 (prebook Aug. 4) on DVD ($59.98) and Blu-ray Disc ($79.98).
The series, which was the top-rated new show among adults 18-49 in the past television season, stars Anna Torv, John Noble and Joshua Jackson as unlikely colleagues investigating a series of peculiar events that may tie into the activities of a shadowy multinational corporation. It was created by “Lost” co-creator J.J. Abrams, who directed the new Star Trek film, as well as Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, writers of the new Star Trek and Transformers.
The discs come in a lenticular slipcase and offer all 20 episodes of the first season, plus nearly six hours of extras, including featurettes, production diaries, producer and writer commentaries, deleted scenes, and a gag reel. The Blu-ray also includes a detailed analysis of six scenes from the first season, and BD Live features including a media center and commentary on the season finale.
