Vivendi Gets Krofft Library

25 May, 2010 By: Alexandra Hammarth

Vivendi Entertainment has acquired exclusive home and video rights for the Sid and Marty Krofft library.

Sid and Marty Krofft are known for creating popular children’s shows of the 1970s and ’80s. Blending, puppetry, comedy, and fantasy, the Krofft brothers made shows such as “H.R. Puffnstuff,” “Sigmund and the Sea Monsters” and “Lidsville.” Having never been released digitally or on DVD, shows such as “Lost Saucer,”  “Bigfoot & Wildboy” and “Far Out Space Nuts” are making their home entertainment debuts.

“The Krofft brothers have been capturing audience’s imaginations for decades,” said Yolanda Marcias, EVP of acquisitions & business development for Vivendi Entertainment. “Their shows are iconic, their characters are perennial, and we are thrilled to provide a platform that will allow long time fans to continue enjoying their creations while at the same time introducing their magical worlds to a whole new generation of fans.”

Vivendi Entertainment will begin releasing the catalog as full series sets and compilations beginning in the third quarter of 2010. Bonus features include never-before seen content.

“We are excited to partner with one of the industry’s leading digital and home entertainment distributors,” said Marty Krofft. “We look forward to a successful relationship with Vivendi and their experienced team.”
