Time Life Offers Complete ‘Mama’s Family’

31 Jul, 2013 By: John Latchem

Time Life and StarVista Entertainment are giving “Mama’s Family” the complete-series treatment.

The 1983-90 series was a spinoff of a sketch from “The Carol Burnett Show,” which Time Life released last year, and stars Vicky Lawrence as a matriarch dealing with her wacky family. The show also featured Rue McClanahan, Betty White, Ken Berry, Harvey Korman and Carol Burnett.

“I couldn't be more excited that 'Mama's Family' is being released to DVD by StarVista and Time Life," said Lawrence. "They did such a wonderful job in bringing 'The Carol Burnett Show' to a new generation with their recent collector's editions, and now, consumers will finally be able to bring Mama and her relations into their very own homes."

The 24-DVD Mama’s Family: The Complete Series set includes all 130 episodes compiled from the original broadcast masters, plus more than 10 hours of bonus content, including a cast roundtable reunion, the 1982 CBS movie Eunice, and exclusive new interviews with Lawrence and Burnett. The first two seasons feature the rare, original cuts of the episodes, as well as Korman's introductions as Alistair Quince (spoofing Alistair Cooke).

The set can be preordered for $199.95 at MamasFamilyDVDs.com and is expected to ship starting Sept. 2.

In addition, 500 limited-edition sets signed by Lawrence will be available for $299.95 each.
