19 Apr, 2012 By: John Latchem

After releasing DVDs of such classic TV shows as “Get Smart” and “The Six Million Dollar Man,” Time Life has set its sights on “The Carol Burnett Show.”

The sketch comedy series debuted on CBS in 1967 and produced 278 episodes during 11 years on the air, earning 25 Emmy Awards and five Golden Globes.

Sept. 25, Time Life will release the series to stores in four configurations, the first time the show will be available at retail. (Previous DVD editions have been available through direct marketing).

The biggest of the new volumes is The Carol Burnett Show Ultimate Collection, a 20-DVD set that includes 50 episodes in a specially designed box with more than 10 hours of new, never-before-seen extras.

Also available will be The Carol Burnett Show: Carol’s Favorites, a six-DVD set with 18 unedited episodes.

Rounding out the options are a two-DVD The Best of The Carol Burnett Show with six episodes selected by Burnett, and a single-DVD The Best of The Carol Burnett Show with a compilation of classic sketches such as "The Family," "Tudball & Wiggins" and "Starlet O’Hara in 'Went With the Wind.'”

All editions will feature a roundtable discussion with Burnett, Tim Conway, Vicki Lawrence and Lyle Waggoner; a tribute to Harvey Korman; featurettes about the history of the show; and exclusive interviews with guest stars such as Carol Reiner, Ken Berry, Betty White, Florence Henderson and others.
