Sitcom Giving Away Trip to Sweden9 Jun, 2015 By: John Latchem
Entertainment One is giving aspiring comedians a chance to win a trip to Sweden as part of a promotion for the hit NBC sitcom "Welcome to Sweden."
The show stars Greg Poehler (who executive produces with his sister, Amy) as a New York money manager named Bruce who falls in love with a Swedish girl named Emma (Josephine Bornebusch), and follows her back to her native Stockholm. The cast also includes Lena Olin and Claes Månsson as Emma's parents and Illeana Douglas and Patrick Duffy as Bruce's parents. The premise is based on events of Greg's life.
The "Laugh Your Way to Sweden" video contest allows comedy fans to submit an original comedy short up to 60 seconds in length, and featuring the fish-out-of-water motif of the series, to LaughYourWayToSweden.com, where they will be voted on by the public. Entrants will be encouraged to share their videos across social media, and the top 10 videos with the most votes will move on to the final round where they will be judged by a celebrity panel consisting of Greg Poehler, Duffy, Douglas and guest stars Neve Campbell, Jason Priestly and Shannon O'Neill, the Artistic Director of the Upright Citizens Brigade.
The grand prize winner will be awarded a trip to Sweden for two and an exclusive visit to the Stockholm-based "Welcome to Sweden" set to meet the cast, valued at $5,000. Additionally, the winning video will appear as a bonus feature on the DVD of the second season.
The first season is available on DVD from eOne. The second season will premiere on NBC July 19. Episodes will be available for digital purchase online following their broadcast.
