Shout! Factory is preparing to bring more vintage TV shows to DVD with a crop of product spanning the 1960s to the 1980s.
First up, March 17 (prebook Feb. 17) sees the arrival of Mr. Belvedere: Seasons One & Two at $44.99. The five-DVD set includes all 29 episodes from the first two seasons, which aired in 1985 and 1986. The show starred Christopher Hewett as the English housekeeper of a working-class family headed by Bob Uecker.
Extras include new cast interviews with Uecker, Ilene Graff, Brice Beckham and Rob Stone, plus the “Mr. Belvedere Fan Club” sketch from “Saturday Night Live.”
Due March 24 (prebook Feb. 24) is Room 222: Season One at $34.99. The four-DVD set includes all 26 episodes from the 1969-70 season.
The show dealt with complex issues relating to life at a multiracial Walt Whitman High School in Los Angeles. Lloyd Haynes starred as a dedicated and popular history teacher.
Extras include new interviews with story editor James L. Brooks (“The Simpsons”) and cast members Denise Nicholas and Michael Constantine.
Arriving April 7 (prebook March 10) is The Paper Chase: Season One, featuring all 22 episodes from the 1978-79 season. The six-DVD set comes in at $39.99.
The series about first-year law students is based on the 1973 movie The Paper Chase, which in turn was based on the 1970 novel by John Jay Osborn Jr. Legendary actor John Houseman reprises his Oscar-winning role from the film.
