Shout! Factory Prepping ‘Route 66,’ ‘Richard Pryor’ Sets12 Dec, 2011 By: John Latchem
Indie distributor Shout! Factory has acquired classic television series “Route 66” from Roxbury Entertainment. As a result, Shout! Factory now owns extensive proprietary rights to the 1960-64 series, including all 116 episodes, archived materials, worldwide home entertainment and digital rights, and North American broadcast rights.
“As we are aggressively expanding our purchasing libraries of premiere television and films, this deal exemplifies the type of strategic acquisitions we plan to actively pursue,” said Shout! Factory founding partners Richard Foos, Bob Emmer and Garson Foos in a statement.
Shout! Factory plans a multi-tiered rollout of “Route 66” on all packaged-media, electronic sellthrough and video-on-demand platforms, as well as American broadcast, cable and syndication.
Separately, Shout! Factory and Indigo Inc. will partner on a new career-spanning Richard Pryor DVD/CD boxed set, which will feature the legendary comedian’s most beloved and well-known concert material and previously unreleased content. The set, slated for summer 2012, will include both audio and video performances, including complete concert films, as well as a book with liner note essays, rare photographs and a detailed discography.
