Lost: The Complete Fifth Season (Blu-ray Review)

Even if the upcoming final season of “Lost” turns out to be a huge disappointment, and the complexity of the storyline was just an attempt to distract viewers, then I still say bravo to the creators. The attention to detail included on the “Lost” DVDs has been top notch in fostering a sense of mythology about the show. The fifth-season discs (Disney, Dec. 8, five-DVD set $59.99, Blu-ray $79.99) are just the latest example.
Sure, you can attend “Lost University” through BD Live and immerse yourself in the secrets of the show. But I’m more amused by something like “Mysteries of the Universe: The Dharma Initiative,” a 1980s-style investigative show presented as if someone taped it and hit pause during the commercials. Such extras typify the value of disc, enhancing the original content while being entertaining in its own right.
